ASIAThe land of a thousand styles, cultures, and faces

  • Japan Japan
    • Japan

    • Japan with it's unique blend of traditional, modern, and futuristic cultures has a special place in my heart. I haven't explored it nearly enough yet.
    Annapurna Circuit Annapurna Circuit
    • Annapurna Circuit

    • The Annapurna Circuit in the Mustang region of Nepal is like a dozen treks in one. Every day the scenery changes. One day you are trekking through a tropical jungle under a blazing sun, the next you are walking through alpine woods and valleys with waterfalls cascading around you, and then you high in the mountains sur [...]
    Vietnam Vietnam
    • Vietnam

    • Vietnam is probably my favorite country in South East Asia. I visited there in 2014 and 2015 traveling North to South. I'm planning to return to trek in the far north soon.
    Indonesia Indonesia
    • Indonesia

    • In 2014 I motorbiked West to East across Java and Bali. It took a few days to really get the feel of this amazing country. I've been to places with more spectacular scenery, but never a country with more friendly people. The true beauty of Indonesia is the people that call it home.
    Cambodia Cambodia
    • Cambodia

    • Cambodia has a dark past. Both the Khmer Rouge and American bombers killed tens of thousands of people, yet despite this, the people are some of the warmest and optimistic I have ever met. And, of course, with such a rich history embodied in Ankor Wat, Cambodia is a must see destination.
Everest Base Camp Everest Base Camp
    • Everest Base Camp

    • In 2012 I trekked to Everest Base Camp and Island Peak. After getting socked in with thick clouds we finally jumped a heli for a last ditch effort to reach the trails. Jumping from a heli in the middle of a rice field really should be on everyone's bucket list.
Son Doong Cave Son Doong Cave
    • Son Doong Cave

    • Son Doong Cave is the world's largest cave - so large you could fly a 747 through it in some parts. Only open to the public in 2014, I trekked for 6 days through this massive cave system. It is incredible to think that more people have been to space than inside this cave.

    • Kumano Kodo

    • The Kumano Kodo, an ancient pilgrimage route in the Wakayama precinct of Japan is one of two UNESCO World Heritage-listed hikes in the world, the other being the Camino de Santiago. The four-day Nakahechi route trek takes you through steep mountains, remote villages, and ancient shrines (oji). At night, you get your so [...]
    Bhutan Bhutan
    • Bhutan

    • Bhutan, the mysterious land of the Thunder Dragon is an unspoiled gem in the heart of the Himalayas. In order to truly experience the rich culture, however, you need to ditch your government appointed guide, jump on the back of motorbike and take to the mountains. With my camera and the keys to a classic Royal Enfield, [...]
